Cajon Division - 2018 Spring Meet

Postby psrdispatch » Tue Mar 06, 2018 8:41 am

Hello Everyone,

Here is the flyer and clinic schedule for the Cajon Division Spring Meet and PSR BOD Meeting. The dates are April 27 and 28. As you may or may not know we can no longer hold our meets at the Mary Phillips Senior Center in Temecula, so we've made the move to the Orange Empire Railway Museum (OERM) in Perris, CA. This should be a good move for us, the museum is excited to have us, and we're excited to be there.

We will still have Friday night Bingo, which will be at the museum.

The format will be the same as in past years with 8 clinics in the morning and the PSR BOD meeting after lunch. Lunch will be hot dogs in the museum instead of pizza.

The afternoon, in addition to the PSR Meeting, will be touring the museum including docent led tours to parts of the museum not open to the public. Also in the afternoon, the Cajon Div. has paid for and reserved an RSD-5 for Run One Programs for two hours, and each hour will be raffled off. The first hour is a raffle for anyone that registers early and is free. If you preregister you get a free raffle ticket to have an opportunity to run the locomotive from the museum down the track to Perris and back. The second hour is also a raffle, this one costs $10.00 per ticket, and does the same thing, run the loco down to Perris and back. Four winners per drawing will be held (You can only win one spot for each drawing). The cost to do this on your own is $250 per hour, so this is a good deal.

We are hosting a "good old fashioned swap meet" in the afternoon. The tables are free to NMRA members and the intent is to give you an opportunity to clean out your train room and find some new treasures to buy. We are sorry, but this swap meet is limited to members only, therefore no commercial vendors will be allowed even if you wish to purchase a table.

The model contest will be held in an old caboose (which is air conditioned).

The clinics are all new in content, or presentation, and feature four clinicians that have never given a clinic before. Two of the clinics are of a new format, one is entirely in the field, the other is a combination field/classroom setting, and both are limited as to the number that can attend. Both clinics have set up e-mail addresses for members to send in their reservations and communicate with the clinician before the meet so that they can be tailored to the attendees. The Clinic description page of theses documents have all the information. The clinics will be given in museum buildings surrounded by railroad equipment, in a caboose, and in an old depot.

The Saturday evening banquet will be catered at the museum instead of going to an offsite restaurant, and will still feature a hobo auction.

We've set up a local hotel 20 minutes away for a special rate. It's at the Ayres Hotel Moreno Valley, ask for NMRA Cajon Spring Meet rate for $109.00. The address and phone number are on the flyer.

If you would please circulate this among your members we would greatly appreciate it. If anyone has any questions please contact me, or Gary Butts. Thank you for your help in promoting this meet, and we are looking forward to seeing you there.

Best Regards,
Dennis Ivison
